Everyone knows that getting rid of excess fat doesn’t come easy. Though some areas of the body are affected by diet and exercise, there are stubborn areas that tend to resist. Rather than having to deal with excess fat, a lot of people turn to liposuction. However, it’s no longer simply a case of having to have standard liposuction as Vaser liposuction is an option. Vaser (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance) liposuction removes unwanted fat using ultrasonic technology. It can target a range of areas including the stomach, arms, neck, thighs, breasts and hips. Vaser liposuction is not a procedure that is recommended for those who are overweight, but those who are struggling to shift certain areas of fat through diet and exercise alone.
How Does Vaser Liposuction Work?
As is the case with standard liposuction, Vaser liposuction works by removing fat from certain areas of the body. However, Vaser liposuction does things a little differently, it involves using ultrasonic technology to specifically target fat cells in certain areas of the body, before turning them to a liquid and then removing them. This is done by inserting a small cannula into the chosen area, a method that is less inveastic than standard liposuction techniques. Whilst removing fat cells, it also sculpts the area.
Recovery Period
Vaser liposuction is carried out under local anaesthetic and you are not required to stay overnight to recover. The entire procedure usually takes between 45 minutes and three hours, depending on the number of areas being treated and the size of those areas. One of the main benefits of choosing this procedure over standard liposuction is that it has a much faster recovery time. As long as you rest immediately after the procedure, most people find they can return to work after two to four days. You will need to wear a compression garment to assist with healing and to boost results, but this only needs to be done for around six weeks. Though you will need to attend follow up appointments, you should be fully recovered six weeks after having the procedure.
